Days are blurring...
...drove to Mineral, VA today. Apparently besides being an old mining town, it is also a logging area! Saw five of these trucks within an hour!
There were very hilly, winding roads - I have to start using the exhaust brake while I'm driving these hills!
Moo!
This contraption was a new one for me!
Pics from Christopher Run campground on Lake Anna, where we are tonight...
Wednesday:
PLAN A - Greg rides from Mineral to just below Charlottesville, Karen gets diesel fuel and drives to next campground (KOA) also in Charlottesville...it's a beautiful sunny day.
PLAN B - Greg gets a flat (first ever since he got his first bike when he was 16) and Karen hits 5 gas stations that the Gas Buddy app says carry diesel - no diesel, rides on 1/8 of a tank and a prayer to expressway 20 miles away. Gets fuel.
Weather tracking unit in RV starts shouting severe thunderstorms with 50 mph winds and hail. Greg finds shelter only 15 miles into ride and waits...more than half an hour...for Karen who has to first get to the campground. "Jill" GPS leads her through a narrow road that fits the RV and 1/2 of any car coming the other way, with flooding, bridge only supporting 21 tons (what's the conversion??!!) and trees hanging (that she can't veer from and branches hit RV roof).
Drops off RV at KOA, disconnects jeep after wrestling with gears, drives back 25 miles to pick up Greg...still waiting...under shelter.
Guess which plan we went with??!!
