Arrived a bit late, but we were able to hear Seth speak on loving your enemies, from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, and, how the attitude of retaliation and vengeance does not make for a better life or a better world.
Seth (a seminary student) and the four musicians are part of a group called the Summer Shine Resort Staffing Ministry. They work at KOA campgrounds during the summer, cleaning and doing other jobs needed at the camp and have activities for children, and, on Sundays they have chapel service for the campers.
We had missed the beginning music, but were able to hear the last song "10,000 Reasons" - I had heard the chorus before but not the verse - good song!
This was the campsite Greg and his family had many years ago. They had arrived late at night and backed in, not knowing they were at the edge of a steep decline! What a surprise they had in the morning! SOMEone was watching over them!
Had pancakes at the camp hall one morning and we went inside to eat and discovered this!
These guys were having fun!
We also discovered, that you really can't do more than one or two loads of laundry in this RV because it uses a LOT of water (and has to be drained and refilled). Late last night I heard gurgling...and well, let's just say, we had to take showers in the camp stalls! The good part though is, as we were leaving to walk back "home", Greg spotted the tiniest bunny we have ever seen - it could fit in the palm of your hand! I tried to take a picture with my phone, but it was too dark. So cute! And, we've noticed as we get further and further west, we are seeing more stars in the sky! Could see the haze of the milky way!
After I checked out at the camp office, once again, a lady with a smiling kind face appears, and asks, "Where in New York are you from?" And I proceeded to have a wonderful time talking with Laura and her husband Chris. They live in Plattsburgh, NY - just a stone's throw away from my alma mater, Potsdam. She was tired of all the rain they were getting and decided to head south for a break! They had also arrived late for the church service, but were glad they attended too.
Upon telling them of Greg's endeavor, they shared that last year their pastor flew out to California and biked eastward across the country!
They had rented a cabin - had been tenting it but decided to treat themselves for their stay here. They are thinking of moving to Virginia. She wanted to head back home along the coast and had never been to Chincoteague, so I told them about what we did and saw there, so she's psyched!
Today's a 54 miler for Greg, but it's another beautiful day...
Sometimes "Jill" (Gps) gets squirrely. I was supposed to meet Greg at this Fas Market - kind of like a souped-up 7-Eleven. So I exit off this highway, SEE the Fas Market and "Jill" tells me to go down some road...so I figure, well, maybe there's a lot of them...like 7-Elevens, and I listen and obey! Next thing I know I'm driving on these tiny hilly roads the RV does NOT fit in! Lol. I'm amazed I didn't knock any mailboxes off their posts! (Couldn't you just see it - a trail of them lining the roads as I wiz by, me shouting, "Sorry! Gotta go!")
Returned to the Fas Market and hung out until Greg arrived. It drizzled a little, but fortunately Greg didn't get caught in any of that.
We found a Cracker Barrel to stay at overnight - yeah, they let you do that too - which is great. There was a surprisingly cool breeze that night.
Off he goes Monday morning...
...and my mission, should I choose to accept it, is to find a Walmart to get some groceries. Got lost, found one, no place to "park", went further, found another (they're like Starbucks around here - one on every corner practically!) and got a decent spot.
I had heard something drop when I was driving, but that was nothing new...happens pretty regularly! Only this time I discover the brace we were using to hold in the laundry supplies loosened and fell...and consequently so did the LIQUID, Lol, detergent. It's kinda like sticky syrup. I cleaned up what I could, but it got under the slide out. Once Greg arrived, we decided to stay put here for the night, opened up the slide and cleaned it some more.
My highlight of the day...in Walmart...
...met an itty bitty pup named Lucy and her owner, I think, his name was Mike...sorry, I was smitten with her. She is a chihuahua and will probably stay that tiny! I told him how I had just lost our dog Roxy, and he was so kind - he let me hold her, and take a picture!
