View this morning towards the mountains, from our campsite...
Went into the town of Lexington to mail some things...
They have a drive-in theater!!
How I loved those when I was young! Actually still do! (If they showed movies on a day we were here, we would've gone!!)
I remember two times most vividly - one was going with my mom, aunt and cousins to see Clarence the Cross-Eyed Lion. And the other was with my uncle, cousins and friends, to see The Train with Burt Lancaster. Ha! Actually my first job was at the 110 Drive-in! Wasn't so good at making coffee - better at pizza and heroes! Break time was fun - we could make ourselves a snack from anything they had and then sit outside and watch the movie!
Today we basically stayed put. Greg had a lot of work to do...I had a lot of laundry to do. But finally around 5:30 we decided we could still fit in a little touristing (touristing?!) So we went south to the Natural Bridge...upon arriving there and going through the gift shop to get tickets, it seemed, well, a little hokey.
But were we ever surprised!
The path down...
Loved this tree trunk
The signs...
And then, the bridge!
I don't know if you can see, but way, way off in the distance are other people - this thing was unbelievable!!
This is straight up and is a road (which we
just HAD to drive over later on!)
The path then took us on a mile hike to Lace Waterfalls.
Cave!!
At night they have a very special presentation they do with music and lights...
...but we were getting hungry so we only had time to visit a friend at the gift shop!
On the way back...we had to pull over for these shots!
The restaurant by our campgrounds where they welcome truckers,
and well, everyone, with a smile!
Petie was so nice! She gave me a tour
around the place so I could take pictures!
This was the neatest diner!!
How cool is this??!!
The ending of another unique amazing day...
