Sometimes...

...we meet wonderful people and my brain THINKS that I included them in this journal of our trek.   And then as I peruse over the blog posts...well...you get the picture...

So this post is dedicated to some great people we met along the way...

In New Jersey in June -  one of the first days of our trip, at a CVS, the girl at the cash register looked and sounded like my favorite character in the movie "The Incredibles" (the daughter). I remember it had been a long day, and well, she was so sweet, it made us smile.

In Missouri in August - Had to go to the Post Office and Radioshack in Perryville.  They were next to one another,  which was kinda funny.  As I was about to go back to camp, I spied a gift shop diagonally across street.

Met the owner, Tammy and we had a great time talking about arts and crafts...and I had to ask her all about having her own shop!
She brings in artists to sell their wares and also started selling nice thrift items (when customers started asking for certain things) She makes doll decorations out of pretty hand towels, and rough wood country art.  Has been doing okay with the store. Right now it's a little slow, but she believes she'll get through the slow time.  I hope she does too!

Also in Missouri in Ironton - Kay who owned the RV park we stayed at told us a hysterical story - well, you probably had to be there, but I'm gonna tell it anyway!

Her dog needed a pain killer shot and the vet gave Kay what she needed to do it at home since he would be away...but she just couldn't do it.  She asked friend to help - neither of them wanted to do it.  So Kay calls the vet and he suggested taking the needle off, have one of them hold the dog's mouth open and the other squirt the medicine in.  They couldn't take off the needle. Kay's friend finally takes courage and says she will give the dog the needle.  So what happened?  Kay held the dog, the friend shot Kay! They are laughing hysterical and the dog has an expression on his face like..."uh, remember me, the one in pain?"

It's been years and years since this happened and they still crack up every time they talk about it!

At the same RV park in Ironton, met "neighbor" Sharon.  She was here with her husband Walter.  They have been coming here the last 3 years - to help out his mom during the summer months. Their plate says South Dakota (should have taken a pic of it!) but their home is in California - Indio, near Palm Springs!
She's the one who told me about the neat places to go around here - Elephant Rock Park, Johnson's Shut-ins Park and the Farmington movie theatre.

In Colorado in October - Greg is in a bike shop getting something and he comes out of the store and I'm hanging out with two people by the jeep!  He's wondering "Who is she talking to?"  This couple had walked up to me and asked "are you from Long Island?" Well, that's where they were from!  Joyce and Dave - SO nice!

Dave had built a restaurant right in our town, and had done work in my Mom's town too!  They moved out to Colorado to be closer to their daughters, one was in CO at the time, but since then has moved. They stayed in Colorado (LOVE the area!) and go visit the girls in Texas and Arizona!  And once a year they go back home to LI to visit!  Meeting them was so cool - one of those serendipitous moments!

Decided to add this now...
In Texas in October (will explain next blog!) - Stayed at Mission RV park, and James checked us in.  He was so friendly and helpful and at one point said "I LOVE my job!"
I don't come across too many people who say those words!  It was so evident in the way he acted, and uplifting to hear!

                                        ********************************************************
I'm forever grateful for the people we meet along the way...
...truly a highlight in our adventure!
