September 2 - 3, 2013 - Eminence

Small home town, heard it's busy in the heat of the summer.  Friendly people.

Starting to see a lot more western influence...
                                              ...which I just love!

When I was in the local grocery store, the cashier told me I should check out Alley Springs, and the lady on line behind me agreed...so I went for a drive!

The visitor center used to be the old post office...

The Old Mill...

                                          So beautiful...very Monetesque...

The bridge took me to this path along the stream,
edged with wild looking rocks and tiny caves...

Really enjoyed visiting Alley Springs...
            so lovely and peaceful...

In the late late afternoon, headed to Summersville to pick up Greg...

Yup...

What I couldn't take a picture of here, was another other lady and a cute little girl who were in the cart - all three were gobbling up ice cream cones!

We were going to head "home" and Greg eyed a place that was serving "wings"...and I was interested in getting one of those ice cream cones the ladies & girl had gotten!
So...we headed into this place, that was...quite rowdy!

They had the hot n spicy wings though, so Greg ordered them (no ice cream - was another store that had just closed) and we sat down on stools at the counter.

That's when we met Shea (short for Sheamus).  Well, we must have spent the next hour or so talking to him!  He's originally from California, but had been working and living in Illinois as a construction worker.  He decided to chuck it all, and moved here just 2 weeks ago, with his dogs, and bought 10 acres of very wooded land!  He's living in his camper now, with no electricity...while he cuts down trees, put up fences and begins his new life. He wants to build a house, have a garden, chickens, a hog and more!  Ambitious!   A lot of hard work.  It's very admirable.  He was so nice, he even invited us to stay on his property if we needed a place.   We wish him well...
