Well, we headed off to the NASA site this morning, and as we're driving there, today's date comes up in conversation...
Karen: It's Friday!
Greg: No, its Thursday!
Karen: It's Fri..oops, the launch is tomorrow!
I stop and wait for a car to pass, to turn around and head back to camp, and the guy pulls along side us to see if we're okay. I wave and thank him saying we are okay, and as he drives away Greg notices it's a VA license.
Greg: Ah, a nice person visitng from Virginia!
Karen: We're in Virginia!
Greg: Oh great, you dont know what day it is and I dont know what state we're in...and we're crossing the country??!!
What a pair!
We stopped by the Camp Office/Store...
...to thank Jenny for setting us up with a nice site and working it out so we could stay as long as we needed to. Such a wonderful lady! We talked to her for a while - about Chincoteague, her favorite ice cream store in town - the Island Creamery,
where the local grocery store is, how to get a National Parks pass at the beach entrance (will be able to use it across the US), the Nasa launch TOMORROW and the airstrip by the Nasa/Noaa facility where F15, F16 and F22 planes fly. Her dad worked at Lockheed/Martin down the road and both of ours worked at Grumman so it was fun sharing plane stories!!
Spent most of the afternoon cleaning and trying to organize stuff in the camper while Greg worked.
In the late afternoon we went for a walk around the campground.
They were predicting rain for the next 3 days so we decided to go across the bridge, get our National Park pass and see if we could find the wild horses. Neat area...
Egrets, we saw a few, and then again...(that's for Mom & Addy)
Found horses, but not on the beach - in the marsh land...
Met some fine fellows at the beach...
Finally made our way back "home"...
Incredible end of the day shots.
ReplyDeleteIf I ever get organized here, I would really like to paint some of these skies. They are breathtaking!
