I sometimes reside here...
We finally made our way to the Cape May - Lewes ferry. I arrived first and had to pull into a spot in front as the RV would have to be in the middle lane of the ferry.
One thing I forgot to mention about Cape May, is that they have a million putt putt golf places! Including this one at the ferry!
The ride is about an hour and a half. We wandered around the ferry, taking pictures and enjoying the warm breezes...
At one point the captain told us to go to the right side of the boat because there were dolphins passing by! I took a picture but it just looks like a couple of dark spots on the water. :(
The sunset was stunning, the camera doesn't do it justice...
Nearing Delaware, looming off in the distance is a huge windmill - it towered over the houses...
Once arriving in Delaware, Greg took off on the bike. It was already well after 7:30pm and he still had about 2 hours of riding ahead of him.
I decided to take my time getting to our next stop - Delaware Seashore State Park and whenever something caught my eye, I pulled over and took a few pictures...I had a blast!!
see a rainbow in this shot!
Delaware is lush and green and full of surprising beauty. As I was getting close to our destination for the night I saw something looming in the distance and thought it was a power plant..
...it just glowed!
Pulled into the campground, next to this amazing bridge and talked with the nicest lady at the booth - Dawn. She gave me the map for our camp spot, and said I needed to disconnect the jeep from the RV first, before heading over to the site.
It has been difficult doing this and tonight wasn't any different. Except for the fact that once I pushed the transfer case back into the normal gear for driving, the entire shifter was completely loose as if it disconnected from the gears. I couldn't drive it or go in reverse!
I must say I am grateful for Dawn, she was there for me just like she was my friend. So kind, understanding and helpful. (We have been meeting some nice people on this trip - it's been a real blessing). So once I calmed down from my usual hysteria, I left the jeep there and went looking for the site...it was dark by this time and I couldn't see a dang thing...so I had to circle around the camp twice to find it.
Once Greg got there, sometime after 10...we hunted down a jeep dealer in a town north of the ferry. Would call them in morning...and since we were probably going to be dealing with this for the entire day, we decided to call a Thor authorized dealer to see if they could help us with the many things that were going wrong with the RV. And so it ends, my Monday Monday...
What an adventure!!!!!! Even with the little 'bumps' in the road, sounds like you all are meeting great people, seeing beautiful things and enjoying the ride! :)
ReplyDeleteLol - this is true! It's very heart warming to know there are such nice people out there! And I've always known this is a beautiful country, but seeing it first hand is an amazing experience - at times when I'm driving, with this panoramic view I get from the RV, I get tears in my eyes! (gotta watch that with this big rig!!)
